BOL man,I thought you guys kept up on trends better than this. The Yamaha vocal synthesized singer is called a Vocaloid. This singer software was actually used in Mike Oldfield's 2005 release of Light + darken and at the time helped Yamaha bring notoriety to this software. Vocaloid 2 to which your emailer refers is an Anime song generator (software I suspect) that includes Yamaha's Vocaloid technology to sing in a decidedly Japanese inflection and tone for Anime. There are several different western style singers (both male and female) available with the Vocaloid technology by the company Zero-G. These singers include Lola. Miriam and Leon. The technology can be licensed by Yamaha to produce other singers and singing styles. BTW this is not an act to cater this software. I am explaining what it is and does. As a musician. I briefly considered purchasing one of these packages. However the demos are less than steller. The 's' sounds undergo a decidedly digital quality and some of the word transitions have a digital click that's not natural. I am definitely interested in seeing this singing technology evolve but alter now Yamaha needs to do more bring home the bacon. If you want to see this software tour or and use the examine term 'vocaloid'. There may also be demos available. The software seems reasonably priced when compared to other VST write packages. But as I said. I was less than impressed by the appear quality and couldn't confirm the price for the quality.
